A PATHWAY TO REGIONAL COMPETITION
Guam’s most promising junior players can progress from local training and competition to the North Pacific Regional Championships and, through strong regional performances, to the Pacific Oceania Junior Championships in Fiji. Each step provides valuable match experience and introduces young athletes to a higher level of competition.
NORTH PACIFIC REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS (NPRC)
NPRC is an annual tournament bringing together leading junior players from Guam and neighboring Pacific nations.
Boys and girls compete in three age divisions:
• 12-and-Under Team Competition
• 14-and-Under Individual Competition
• 16-and-Under Individual Competition
The tournament provides young athletes with international match experience while giving them the opportunity to represent their island or nation as part of the wider North Pacific tennis community. Participating nations and territories may include Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, and Palau.
Top finishers in the 14-and-Under and 16-and-Under divisions, along with qualifying teams from the 12-and-Under competition, may advance to the Pacific Oceania Junior Championships.
2027 NORTH PACIFIC REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS are scheduled to be held in Saipan. Dates TBD.
PACIFIC OCEANIA JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS (POJC)
POJC brings together qualifying junior players from the North, East, and West Pacific regions for one of the region’s premier junior tennis events.
Held in Fiji, the championships feature boys’ and girls’ competition in the 12-and-Under, 14-and-Under, and 16-and-Under age divisions. Players compete against many of the Pacific’s strongest juniors while representing their countries, territories, and regions.
Strong performances at the POJC may lead to additional player-development opportunities through the Oceania Tennis Federation and World Tennis. Selected athletes may be considered for development support or touring opportunities in Australia and New Zealand.
The POJC represents an important step for junior players who aspire to compete at increasingly higher levels of the game.
